The coronavirus pandemic has had a dramatic impact on organizations and sectors of all kinds, including institutions of higher education. Although the long-term impact on colleges and universities is unknown, the short-term impact of the pandemic has been both staggering and unprecedented.
Rather than being isolated incidents requiring the sole attention of presidents, chancellors, or communication professionals, the proliferation of crises across campuses, including the unfolding coronavirus pandemic, makes crisis leadership fundamental to the work of all university personnel.
In this webinar, Dr. Ralph Gigliotti, Director of the Center for Organizational Leadership at Rutgers University and the author of Crisis Leadership in Higher Education: Theory and Practice, will provide a summary of his key research findings and the implications for academic and administrative leaders who must navigate institutional and environmental crises that are most germane to higher education.

Speaker Biography
Ralph Gigliotti is the Director of the Center for Organizational Leadership at Rutgers University, where he provides executive leadership for the overall planning, delivery, and assessment of signature programs and services. He also serves as an associate faculty member in the Ph.D. Program in Higher Education and part-time lecturer in the Department of Communication. He is the author of the book, Crisis Leadership in Higher Education: Theory and Practice, and co-author of A Guide for Leaders in Higher Education: Core Concepts, Competencies, and Tools.
Chair and Associate Professor of Leadership & Organizational Studies at the University of Southern Maine. Daniel Jenkins received his doctorate in Curriculum & Instruction as well as an M.A. in Political Science from the University of South Florida and a B.S. in Communication Studies from The Florida State University. Dan is a co-author of the book The Role of Leadership Educators: Transforming Learning and has published more than 40 articles and book chapters on leadership education and assessment. As an award-winning international speaker and facilitator, Dan has engaged thousands of leadership educators, students, and professionals on topics such as leadership pedagogy, curriculum, and course design. Additionally, Dan is Co-Chair of the ILA's Leadership Education Academy, Vice-Chair of the Collegiate Leadership Competition, Associate Editor of the Journal of Leadership Studies, and co-host of the Leadership Educator Podcast.
