Authentic Leadership Circles™ - Creating the Space for Authentic Dialogue

Description: In this interactive, experiential session, you will experience what authentic dialogue is and what the benefits are for you, your team and your organization. You’ll discover what an Authentic Leadership Circle™ is, and how you can use Circles to create environments where others are comfortable participating in meaningful conversations.

Abstract: “There is a calling in the world today, for leaders globally to bring authenticity (strength of character, self-awareness and ethics) and emotional intelligence to their way of being. When paired with technical and professional excellence, authenticity and emotional intelligence provide leadership and business advantages for the 21st century.”

Authentic Leadership Circles™ are being launched globally in order to support consciousness in organizations (business and non-profit).

During an Authentic Leadership Circle™, the host creates the space where leaders come together for 2 – 2.5 hours, to learn about themselves and develop foundational competencies for authenticity and emotional intelligence. They also support other participants, learn to accept support, and build community, both within the circle, and then outside the circle - across their organization and beyond. NOTE: this session, due to time restrictions, will be a one hour ‘sampler’ of the usual 2 – 2.5 hour version.

The business benefits of Authentic leadership Circles™ and Authentic Leadership for Teams™ are many - they include:

Long-term improved performance – results - while supporting personal wellness and alignment to values. Better decision making as leaders learn to create an environment that fosters diversity of opinion. Satisfied clients as leaders are able to keep their perspective in times of stress as well as increased creativity when original thought is required. Increased effectiveness as leaders increase their awareness, moving beyond old, automatic patterns and beliefs that may be limiting their leadership. Engaged employers as leaders are able to let down their defenses and be themselves, which employees experience as approachability, and they feel safe to share their opinion.

In this 60-minute experiential learning session, you will experience the magic of an Authentic Leadership Circle™ as the presenters share the simple steps for how to create the space for authentic dialogue. When you walk out of the session you will have an awareness of the experience and the benefits, as well as an Authentic Leadership Circle™ Action Worksheet, for “Creating the Space for Authentic Dialogue” – with your clients, teams and others. (Please note that due to the time limitations this session will begin right on time, and late-comers, unfortunately, will be unable to join the in-progress session).

Specifically you’ll learn through experiencing the following: • How to create the conditions for participants to experience and practice authentic dialogue. • How to prepare somatically as the Circle Host, in order to build your capacity for authenticity. • What check in is and what are the 2 roles for participants. • How asking powerful questions supports authentic dialogue. • What to expect as the conversation deepens. • How to self-manage and support as emotions arise. • How to close an authentic dialogue.

The format of ALC's provides for the wisdom of all the participants to emerge and be shared, adding various perspectives and significant value to what the host brings to the dialogue. The result becomes more than the sum of the parts as each participant experiences what may be for them, an entirely new way of being in dialogue with others, and as a result, an ability to access and share their own experiences and wisdom with the group.

Authentic Leadership Circles™(ALC’s), were launched in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and are being hosted globally in both live and virtual formats. ALC’s have been successfully introduced to corporate clients by Leadership Consultants and Coaches. During ALC’s leaders from various departments and in varying roles within the organization dialogue on specific topics impacting their leadership journey. This deepens the leader’s capacity as well as positively impacting the organization’s triple bottom line.

Authentic Leadership Circle™ Topics include how authenticity and emotional intelligence are business advantages for the 21st century, how to have difficult conversations – when I feel intimidated or where there is a performance issue, how to manage conflict, how to delegate, how to have just a bit more work/life balance, just to name a few.

These Circles benefit not just the leaders within organizations, but also their teams, stakeholders, clients, and their families.

For Leadership Consultants and Coaches, Authentic leadership Circle™ programs provide a way to support leadership while building relationships and community with potential clients.

Laura Mack will facilitate three virtual ILA Authentic Leadership Circles in a fully virtual format, pre and post conference in late September, early October and mid-November.
