Simon Vroonhof
Simon Vroonhof works for the Municipality of The Hague, the
Netherlands. He has a Master of Science in Econometrics at
Erasmus University Rotterdam and a Master of Public
Management at the University of Enschede. Simon has
spent his entire career working for local government,
most of the time for the municipality of The Hague. With
his inner ambition being to get things done for the
community, being a civil servant was a deliberate
choice. In his present role, he is head of the
strategy-unit of the department of Education, Culture
and Social Welfare. The most important task for the unit
is to present a broad vision for the future and to work
out the first steps to get there. As chair-elect of the
Public Leadership MIG Simon’s goal is to expand ILA’s
global membership and attract more practitioners in the
Public Sector. He is also very invested in cross
collaborative work between practitioners and
scientists.

Erwin Schwella
Erwin Schwella is currently the Professor of Public Leadership at the School of Public Leadership at Stellenbosch University, South Africa and a Professorial Fellow at the Leiden Leadership Centre of Leiden University, the Netherlands. Erwin is also a member of the Board of Overseers of the Center for Public Leadership in the Hague, the Netherlands, a Director of the Council of Health Service Accreditation of Southern Africa, a Director of the Center for Executive Leadership in Government, Rutgers University, United States of America and a member of the Statutory Training and Development Board of the Namibian Institute of Public Administration and Management.
Erwin Schwella has been and still is a consultant and advisor to ministers and other executive office holders at all spheres of government in the democratic South Africa and in Southern Africa. He has travelled extensively and was a visiting academic at many prominent European and United States Universities. He is a leadership and governance trainer who has trained senior members of the South African liberation movements in preparation for their roles in government as well as political and government leaders in the democratic South Africa and abroad.
He is a National Research Foundation rated researcher in South Africa and has authored and co-authored more than 40 academic publications in the fields of governance, leadership, organization development and public management. He serves and has served on the editorial boards of a number of national and international academic journals.

Will
Salyards
Will has served in senior leadership in both
for-profit and not-for-profit enterprise. With
26 years of service in roles from VP of Sales
and Director of Marketing to clergyman, he has
led in activities as diverse as giving shape to
public perception to collaboration for community
wide projects. Will’s work in for-profit
business has familiarized him with the demands
of the workplace for on-time delivery and
efficiency while his non-profit service that of
leading volunteers in public accomplishment. His
extensive experience in mission-focused
leadership has provided him an appreciation for
the distinct expectations of members and
understanding of collaborative effort. He serves
a number of non-profit boards and consults
others regarding non-profit corporate policy,
governance, and human resource management.
Will completed his theological training at
Fuller Theological Seminary and his doctoral
work in Leadership Studies at Gonzaga
University. His research interest is the
sociality of narrative and its use by leaders in
conducting organizational change. He is the
principal of a consultancy that advises and
educates leaders regarding organizational change
and leader wholeness. He also publishes a
bi-monthly ezine addressing trends in leadership
and change leadership. A resident of El Dorado
Hills, California, Will is married and the
father of three children.
