Opportunities to Get Involved

Member Engagement Team - The Member Engagement Team partners closely with the Leadership Development MIG Chair to create, coordinate, and implement experiences throughout the year that serve and involve Leadership Development MIG members fostering active engagement and connection in between conferences. Examples include: webinars, "book club", articles for The Member Connector, and on-line discussion questions.

Team Lead - Ted Thomas, Director, Department of Command and Leadership at the Army's Command and General Staff College.

Ted is the Director for the Department of Command and Leadership at the Army's Command and General Staff College. He coordinates leadership instruction, curriculum, and assessment efforts, and teaches leadership classes. He has been a member of ILA for 3 years. Ted has a PhD in Engineering Management from Missouri Science and Technology University at Rolla, an MS in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, and a BS from the United States Military Academy in New York.

Conference Creative Team - The Conference Creative Team is responsible for creating innovative and exciting programming for the Leadership Development community at the ILA Annual Global Conferences. Recent initiatives include the “Connection Café” – a designated area at the conference for relaxed networking with colleagues, and a conference wide mentoring program called “Conference Colleagues”.

Team Lead - Ariel Kaufman, Student and Program Coordinator, University-Community Collaborations, University of Wisconsin-Madison.

At her home institution, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Ariel enjoys her role as a student and program coordinator in the University's university-community collaborations with a specific geographic area. She currently serves as the chair of Park Street Partners, a coalition of organizations and resident groups working on community and economic development in the specific geographic area bordering UW-Madison, in addition to her work as the Community Team Coordinator, for Campus Community Partnerships in the Office of the Chancellor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Current Community Team collaborations include increasing home ownership for African-Americans through mentorship and education as well as developing a cross-sector collaboration to address foreclosures in Dane County.
