Public Leadership Member Interest Group
The MIG for Public Leadership provides a forum for those who study or help lead non-profit, social, civic, political, and governmental institutions. These institutions are typically characterized by their primary emphasis on serving the greater good rather than economic gain. The dialogue sponsored by the Public Leadership MIG confronts the challenges posed in the public arena and examines potential leadership strategies and solutions. Chair - Vern Ludden, Chair, Graduate

Biographical Information
I am currently the Chair of Graduate Studies in Leadership at Indiana Wesleyan University which offers a doctoral program in organizational leadership. The doctoral program has approximately 100 students. Prior to assuming this position, I was Executive Director of The Possibility Network (TPN) a coalition of 65 educational organizations focused on advancing adult education in the state of Indiana. The program used computer technology, the Internet, and Learning Consultants to promote adult education opportunities at universities, community colleges, career schools, state agencies, workforce development programs, and not-for-profit organizations. The TPN Web site at its peak listed over 800 programs and 14,000 courses for adults. I have over 12 years of experience as director of public service organizations ranging from community action agencies to workforce development programs. My public service leadership experience is balanced out by leadership positions in entrepreneurial businesses, major corporations, and higher education. I am the author of 15 books in the areas of leadership, career development, and entrepreneurship (these can be found through a Google or Amazon search). I also have extensive experience in association leadership. My most recent experience was to serve three years ago as President of the Indiana Association of Career Professionals International chapter. Prior to that experience, I served as a regional director and local chapter president for the American Society for Training and Development.
