Leading in Turbulent Times
Munich, Germany, October 11, 2003

“Leading in Turbulent Times,” was held in German, in Munich, Germany on October 11, 2003. ILA Executive Director, Cynthia Cherrey attended, welcoming participants to the first ILA-Europe event, and expressed thanks to the organizers of the event.  Dr. Otto Scharmer from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology discussed his latest book, Presencing: Illuminating the Blind Spot of Leadership.

The forum explored the role of leadership in actualizing potential. Business leaders are faced with myriad opportunities on a daily basis. Nevertheless, many are missed because of a lack of awareness of their existence or potential. All leaders have blind spots which prevent them from recognizing opportunity as it arises. What qualities of leadership are necessary to heighten awareness of opportunities and make them a reality? How can these qualities be cultivated? Dr. Scharmer shared his experience from interviews with over 130 leaders worldwide.

In keeping with the tradition of active participation at ILA events, participants had ample opportunity to share their thoughts and experiences concerning the forum theme.
