The ILA is pleased to recognize the achievements of those active in the field of leadership with the following awards.
The Jablin award was established to honor and celebrate the life of Dr. Fredric M. Jablin (1952-2004)
and is given annually to a scholar whose recently completed dissertation demonstrates substantial insights and implications for the study of leadership.
Applicants are welcome from any discipline on any topic. The ILA partners with the Jepson School of Leadership Studies
at the University of Richmond to publicize and recognize the outstanding
scholarship of the recipient. Recipients are honored at the annual ILA
conference each year where they present their work in a special session.
In addition to expenses to the conference, recipients receive $1000 and a
complimentary ILA membership.

Begun in 2007, the annual student case competition pits students attending ILA's
annual global conference against one another in a contest where teams analyze a
real world case involving contemporary leadership issues and, develop a specific
set of strategic recommendations that address key issues in the case. Teams
present their case to a panel of judges and the winning team shares a $1000
award.

As part of the 10th Anniversary celebration in 2008, ILA began work on a new
project that will carry into both the future of the ILA and the future of
leadership studies: The Leadership Legacy Project. The ILA will induct
individuals from the field of leadership studies into the Legacy Project by
presenting them with Lifetime Achievement Awards. Honorees will be selected
based on their significant and diverse contributions to the field of leadership.
In addition to being honored at an annual conference, each honoree's portrait
will be proudly displayed on the newly created Legacy Hall at the James
MacGregor Burns Academy of Leadership at the University of Maryland.
