Serving a
two year
board term
as the chair
of the 2010
ILA Boston
conference,
Sherry
Penney is the
founding director of the Center for
Collaborative Leadership and holds
the Sherry H. Penney Professor
of Leadership in the College of
Management at the University
of Massachusetts Boston. Sherry
has extensive experience in higher
education leadership roles, and
currently serves on several boards,
including NSTAR and the Education
Resource Institute, which she
chairs. She also is on the Board of
HERS (Higher Education Resource
Services), South Shore Hospital, and the Road to Seneca Falls project
in women’s history. Her previous
Boston-area board service includes
the Greater Boston Chamber of
Commerce, the Boston Plan for
Excellence in the Public Schools,
and the John F. Kennedy Library
Foundation. She publishes and
speaks on topics related to higher
education, governance issues,
women’s history, and leadership.
Sherry earned her B.A. at Albion
College, her M.A. from the
University of Michigan, and a Ph.D.
from SUNY Albany.
