A native of Brazil, Gamaliel Perruci is the Dean of the McDonough Center for
Leadership and Business and a McCoy Professor of Leadership Studies at Marietta
College (Ohio). He has a doctorate in political science (1991) from the
University of Florida and a master’s in international journalism (1986) and

As dean of the McDonough Center, Dr. Perruci has developed a vision for
international leadership education that includes the expansion of exchange with
foreign universities and colleges. For example, the McDonough Center hosted a

relationship with Kodolanyi College. In the summer of 2004, the McDonough Center
will host a group of 15 MBA students from a Brazilian university. The Center
will provide the Brazilian students with a two-week seminar dealing with
international business leadership issues. Dr. Perruci has been published widely
in the area of internationalism and Latin American leadership issues. He
recently contributed a chapter, entitled “Citizen-Leadership and Community
Action in Latin America,” in Democracy and Globalization, edited by Charles
Nieman (Kent State University Press, forthcoming).
Aside from teaching and his administrative duties, Dr. Perruci also serves as a
consultant to colleges and corporations dealing with international strategic
planning. His most recent consulting assignment includes an evaluation of
international initiatives by Birmingham-Southern College under a grant from the
Christian A. Johnson Endeavor Foundation and an evaluation of leadership
initiatives by Zayed University in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. He has been a
frequent guest of the BBC World Service program ("De Olho no Mundo"), broadcast
